Beginning of February 2024, we relaunched our “Learning Circles” format on the topic of governance and the family charter with two workshops in Geneva and Zurich, moderated by FBN Switzerland’s Chapter Director Marie-Christine von Pezold.
Our key recommendations for drafting a successful family charter:
- Involve the family members
- Create and nurture a climate of open discussion
- Take a structured and holistic approach
- Engage professional moderators from outside the family
- Weigh up the impact on the business and financing strategy
- Regularly review the family charter and amend as necessary
- Ideally, set up the charter in conflict-free times
- Don’t rush things…
