Since 2011, the Lucerne School of Business (HSLU) has organised the Forum for Family Businesses. The event is characterised by a pleasant and very private atmosphere that enables a trusting exchange at eye level.

Succession in family businesses: From event to process

For family businesses that want to survive for generations, few events are as critical and formative as the handover of management responsibility – and often ownership – to the next generation. Ideally, topics such as the valuation process or the selection and development of suitable successors from within the family are already part of the regular family conversation. But how does a business family develop such an orientation, a “succession awareness”? What issues do we as a family need to address and collaboratively clarify in the context of succession – and what is the best way to proceed in planning and implementing our succession?

These and other questions will be discussed at the 13th Forum for Family Businesses.

In addition, FBN Switzerland member Livia Mietzsch, 4th generation, Enzler Group, will moderate a workshop on the topic together with our Managing Director Marie-Christine von Pezold:

Between self-confidence and the pressure of expectations: a successor’s perspective
This workshop will use practical experience and a specific case study to analyse how the successor can gain the respect and trust of the family, employees and stakeholders in the company. This not only enables the development of his/her self-confidence, but also the successful handling of the constant, omnipresent pressure of expectations.
